چکیده

Listeria monocytogenes, is a Gram positive, aerobic, intracellular pathogen with a predilection to cause illness in patients with diminished cell mediated immunity(l,2). Reports of listeriosis from India are scanty either because of its rarity, failure to recognize the bacterial growth, improper isolation techniques or lack of awareness. We present three cases of listeriosis to document the setting of this" infection and its varied clinical presentations in pediatric patients.

Novel nanoparticle vaccines for Listeriosis

In recent years, nanomedicine has transformed many areas of traditional medicine, and enabled fresh insights into the prevention of previously difficult to treat diseases. An example of the transformative power of nanomedicine is a recent nano-vaccine against listeriosis, a serious bacterial infection affecting not only pregnant women and their neonates, but also immune-compromised patients wit...

Listeria Monocytogenes Brain Abscess in Crohn's Disease Treated with Adalimumab

Listeria monocytogenes is a gram-positive bacterium that causes listeriosis. Brain abscess is a very uncommon manifestation of listeriosis and has not been reported to be associated with adalimumab (humira), one of the approved medications for treating Crohn's disease. A 45-year-old female with Crohn's disease presented with sudden onset of fever, headache, nausea, vomiting, and altered mental ...

Interleukin-6-deficient mice are highly susceptible to Listeria monocytogenes infection: correlation with inefficient neutrophilia.

We have produced interleukin-6 (IL-6)-deficient mice to examine, in vivo, the wide variety of biological activities attributed to this multifunctional cytokine. To investigate the role of IL-6 during infectious disease, IL-6-deficient mice were challenged with sublethal doses of Listeria monocytogenes, a facultative intracellular bacterium. While normal control animals were able to clear the in...

Identification, subtyping and virulence determination of Listeria monocytogenes, an important foodborne pathogen.

Listeria monocytogenes is an opportunistic intracellular pathogen that has become an important cause of human foodborne infections worldwide. Given its close relationship to other Listeria species and its tendency to produce non-specific clinical symptoms, the availability of rapid, sensitive and specific diagnostic tests for the differentiation of L. monocytogenes from other Listeria species i...

P124: Listeriosis in Central Nervous System

Listeriosis is one of the CNS inflammatory diseases which is happened majority in the form of sporadic. Listeriosis is ingested with the food. Infection occurrence in an exposed person depends on the number of organisms ingested, the virulence of the organisms strain and the individual condition. It is known that Listeriosis has decisive importance as an infection which the cellular immunodefen...
